Kvarnholmen
More than 7,000 people will call Kvarnholmen home, and another 1,000 will work here. Through innovative thinking and respect for existing historic buildings, the Kvarnholmen that is now being revitalized will become an attractive and vibrant neighborhood with its own distinct identity.
The goal is to strike a good balance between housing and offices, local amenities, restaurants, schools, cultural offerings, and recreational facilities. We are making room for 3,700 new homes and 30,000 square meters of commercial space.
An island of community
The residents of Kvarnholmarna are proud of their island and feel a sense of community with everyone who lives here. They want to be able to go out for a glass of wine and meet people they know—and those they don’t know… yet. That’s why natural gathering places, restaurants, and cafés are now springing up as the number of homes increases.
But we don’t want to wait until everything is finished before Kvarnholmen can come alive again. We want to make Kvarnholmen an exciting place for everyone who lives here or visits the island today—even though not everything is finished yet.
